Klara Hitler was born in August 1860 as Klara Poelzl. She was Adolf Hitler's mother, a woman so totally devoted to her young son that she was unwilling or unable to acknowledge her son's unstable emotional behavior. When Adolf was a teenager, Klara was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a double mastectomy and died in Austria in 1907. Notably, she was cared for by a local Jewish physician, Dr. Eduard Bloch.
